There’s more to Agra than the Taj Mahal.
For many travellers, Agra begins with one image: the Taj Mahal.
And seeing it in person is extraordinary. But stay a little longer and another Agra begins to appear.
There is Agra Fort, where generations of Mughal emperors lived and ruled. There are smaller monuments such as Itmad-ud-Daulah, often called the Baby Taj, views across the Yamuna from Mehtab Bagh, local markets and neighbourhoods, and the wider history surrounding the city.
How much of it you experience depends on how much time you have.
Come from Delhi for the day and focus on the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Stay overnight and you can slow the journey down, see the Taj at sunrise and explore more of the city. Give yourself two days and we can build in places such as Fatehpur Sikri, Old Agra or a village experience.
You don’t need to fit Agra into one standard itinerary. Tell us how much time you have, and we’ll help you make the most of it.

A good option if you have one day for Agra and want to experience its two most important Mughal landmarks with a local guide.
If travelling by private car, we’ll pick you up from your hotel, home, airport or railway station in Delhi-NCR and drive to Agra. Your departure time can be adjusted, and if you’d particularly like to see the Taj Mahal around sunrise, a much earlier departure can be arranged.
If you prefer travelling by train, we’ll help plan the journey around available train timings. You can also make your own way to Agra and meet your guide at Agra Cantt railway station.
Your day will include:
- Taj Mahal: Explore the Taj Mahal with your local guide and learn about its history, the story behind its construction, Mughal architecture, marble inlay work and details that are easy to miss when visiting independently. You’ll also have time for photographs and to experience the monument at your own pace.
- Agra Fort: Continue to Agra Fort, the former Mughal royal residence. Explore areas including Jahangiri Mahal, Khas Mahal, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas and Musamman Burj, with its view towards the Taj Mahal.
We’ll make time for breakfast and/or lunch depending on your departure time and preferences.
At the end of the tour, return to Delhi by car or train.
Good to know: Private car tours offer the most flexibility with departure times. Train tours follow scheduled train timings.

Staying overnight gives you something a same-day trip cannot: more time.
Instead of fitting Agra between two drives, spend your first day exploring the city and save the Taj Mahal for the following morning.
Day 1
We’ll pick you up after breakfast and travel from Delhi to Agra. Depending on your interests and available time, your afternoon can include:
- Agra Fort: Explore the palaces, courtyards and history of one of the Mughal Empire’s most important forts.
- Itmad-ud-Daulah / Baby Taj: Visit this smaller Mughal tomb known for its intricate marble work.
- Mehtab Bagh: See the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna River, offering a very different perspective from the main complex.
There can also be time for lunch, shopping or an additional local experience. If you’d like, a family dining experience can be arranged at additional cost. We’ll then drop you at your hotel for the night.
Day 2
Start early for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal.
After your visit, return to your hotel for breakfast if timing allows, before beginning the journey back to Delhi.
The exact order can be adjusted around your interests, season, hotel and travel timings.

Getting Around
Agra can be reached from Delhi by private car or train. Private car travel offers more flexibility, while train travel follows scheduled departure and arrival times.
Monument Tickets
Entrance tickets aren't included by default. Your guide can assist with tickets, or they can be incorporated into your personalised arrangements.
Visiting at Sunrise
A sunrise Taj Mahal visit can be arranged with an overnight stay or a very early private departure from Delhi. Visibility and the appearance of sunrise depend on weather conditions.
Plan Ahead
Booking early is recommended, particularly during busy travel periods. If you're travelling by train, booking 2–3 weeks ahead gives us more time to work with available reservations.

Carry a copy or digital version of your passport/ID, comfortable footwear, sunscreen and weather-appropriate clothing.

The Taj Mahal is closed to general visitors on Fridays. Keep luggage light when visiting the Taj Mahal, as restrictions apply to what can be taken inside.

Yes. If you’re travelling by private car, the departure time can be flexible. For a same-day Delhi–Agra–Delhi tour, we normally recommend leaving around 6:00 AM so you have enough time in Agra.
If you’d like to visit the Taj Mahal around sunrise on a same-day private tour, a much earlier departure from Delhi can be arranged.
Train-based tours follow scheduled train timings.
Yes, this can usually be arranged for private tours. Pickup and drop-off can be from your hotel, home, airport, railway station or another agreed location in Delhi, Noida or Gurugram.

Yes. If you prefer to arrange your own train or transport to Agra, we can coordinate a meeting with your guide at Agra railway station or another agreed location.
English-speaking guides are provided by default.
Guides speaking French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Chinese and Spanish may also be arranged on request, subject to availability. Please mention your preferred language when planning the tour.

Early morning is particularly popular because temperatures can be cooler and the softer light can be good for photography. An early visit may also help you experience the monument before later parts of the day become busier.
The best timing for your particular trip will depend on the season, weather and itinerary.
Sunrise and visibility can’t be guaranteed and may be affected by fog, cloud or other weather conditions.
Your Taj Mahal visit can still continue as planned, and you’ll have time to explore the complex with your guide.
Typically around 1.5–2 hours, including the guided visit and time for photographs. This may vary slightly according to the itinerary and conditions on the day.
Food isn’t included by default. We’ll make appropriate meal stops and your guide can recommend places to eat.

For private tours, we can adjust the pace where possible. If anyone in your group has limited mobility or other specific requirements, please tell us before booking so we can recommend an appropriate itinerary.

As soon as you know your travel dates is best, particularly if you’d like to travel by train.
Depending on availability, we may be able to arrange private car tours as little as 48 hours before the tour.
A 30% non-refundable payment is required to confirm your booking. The remaining 70% can be paid by card before the tour starts or in cash later, depending on your preference.
We’ll try to accommodate changes where possible, but changes can’t be guaranteed once your booking has been confirmed because transport, guides, accommodation or other arrangements may already have been made.
Genuine emergencies and circumstances outside your control will be considered case by case.
We’ll do our best to support you in genuine emergencies and unexpected situations and adjust the itinerary where possible. There may be additional costs involved in changes to bookings or accommodation.
We can’t promise that every problem can be solved. But we can promise that you won’t simply be left to deal with it alone.
We’ll respond within 48 hours to discuss your requirements and finalise the itinerary, transport and any additional arrangements.
Once the details are agreed, your booking is confirmed with the 30% advance payment. Before the tour, we’ll share the information you need for your journey.
