Founder, Delhi by Locals
Pradeep Kumar spent more than a decade working in tourism before starting Delhi by Locals in 2016.
For him, guiding was never simply about explaining monuments. What he enjoyed most was meeting people from around the world, helping them understand India and sharing the places, stories and everyday experiences that make the country feel alive.
That idea became Delhi by Locals.
Since then, Pradeep has helped grow DBL from local Delhi experiences into personalised journeys across India, while keeping human connection at the centre of how the company works.
His own learning has taken him beyond India too. He holds a Master’s in Tourism and Hospitality Management, spent a year in Washington State through the U.S. State Department’s Community College Initiative Program, and completed a Creative and Cultural Businesses Programme at IIM Ahmedabad in 2024.
But perhaps the most important part of the story is what happened alongside the tours.
As Delhi by Locals grew, so did the idea that tourism could create opportunities for the community it came from.
